Becoming an early childhood educator in Australia requires a combination of education, training, and practical experience. Here are the basic steps:

1. Meet the minimum requirements:

To work in the early childhood education sector in Australia, you need to meet the minimum requirements, including having a valid Working with Children Check and a current first aid certificate.

2. Complete an accredited course:

To start work as a qualified early childhood educator, you need to complete a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care from a registered training organization (RTO) in Australia. At Laverton we deliver the nationally accredited CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. This course cover topics such as child development, communication, behaviour management, and early childhood education theories and practices.

3. Gain practical experience

CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care requires students to undertake supervised work placements in a registered childcare centre or preschool to gain practical experience working with children. At Laverton we will find a suitable work placement for you

4. Continue professional development:

To maintain your currency in the field of early childhood education you should do regular professional development This may include attending workshops, conferences, or completing additional courses.
