The Certificate I in Work is a post-secondary program for young adults with an intellectual disability

This course will assist learners with:

• Basic work skills gained through a work placement (100+ hours
• Literacy and numeracy skills
• Gaining independence – learning life skills and getting career advice
• Engaging, small classes in a supportive environment that are a lot of fun, plus make new friends!

Learners will study the following units

VU24035	Develop and apply an individual vocational plan with support
VU24037	Participate in vocational activities
VU24038	Participate in practical placement with support
VU23501	Participate in short, simple exchanges
VU24039	Develop workplace communication skills
VU24036	Develop personal management skills for work
MSMWHS100	Follow WHS procedures
VU23241	Prepare simple budgets
VU23880	Work with money
VU23723	Prepare for employment

Applicants will be required to take a pre-training review, including literacy and numeracy assessment, to assess their suitability for the course.

This program is delivered every second year, alternating with 22705VIC Certificate I in Transition Education. In 2026 we will be delivering 22705VIC Certificate I in Transition Education. In 2027 we will delivering 22706VIC Certificate I in Work Education.
