AMEP PROGRAM

Course Details

AMEP provides FREE English classes to eligible migrants and refugees in Australia.  Learn English language skills and information about Australian society. Meet other people learning English. Be taught by qualified teachers.

You may be eligible for AMEP if you have been

  • granted a permanent visa OR
  • granted an eligible temporary visa AND
  • speak little or no English

Young people between 15 and 17 years of age may also be eligible.

NOW MORE PEOPLE ARE ELIGIBLE FOR AMEP

AMEP used to be limited to 510 hours but AMEP has now changed.

  • AMEP students can now study for longer.
  • Some people who were not eligible before, may now be eligible.
  • Some people who were not eligible because they completed their AMEP hours or reached the highest level of the program may now be eligible again.
  • For people with a visa commencement date on or before 1 October 2020, time limits for enrolling, starting and completing have now been removed

Do you have higher qualifications and are worried about being eligible for government funded training? You may still be eligible with JobTrainer.

JobTrainer is a new initiative of the Victorian and Commonwealth governments to improve access to education and training for young people and job-seekers.

If you are eligible for JobTrainer you will be able to get a government funded place even if you have a higher qualification or if you already have two qualifications at the level of the course you are applying.

To be eligible for a Job Trainer place you must be:

  • an Australian citizen, permanent resident, New Zealand citizen or asylum seeker; and
  • 17 to 24 years old when the course starts; or
  • a job seeker of any age.

 

LCEC has Job Trainer places in:
Certificate III in Early Childhood Education & Care
Certificate III in Individual Support
Certificate IV in School based Education Support
Diploma in Early Childhood Education & Care
But places are limited so apply today.
